Considering a Move to Canada?

If you currently hold Temporary Protected Status (TPS) and are exploring safer alternatives outside the U.S., Canada may offer humanitarian resettlement or refugee protection — but options are limited and require strong legal planning.

• Canada-U.S. Border Asylum is NOT an Option: Under the Safe Third Country Agreement, Haitians cannot apply for asylum at land border crossings unless they meet an exception.
• Private Sponsorship in Canada: If you have a Canadian family member or sponsor group, they may help you apply for resettlement. Learn more at Canada’s Sponsorship Program.
• Refugee/Asylum Resettlement via UNHCR: For those fleeing danger, consult a legal expert about potential referral through the UNHCR resettlement system: UNHCR Resettlement Process.
• Get Legal Guidance First: Do not attempt travel or border entry into Canada without advice from an experienced immigration lawyer.
